Fr�d�ric Brenner has created the first photographic anthology of the Jewish Diaspora. This landmark, two-volume book of photo�s and essays reflects Brenner�s 25-year journey to 40 countries on five continents. Diaspora documents communities that no longer exist as well as the new, vibrant world of Jewish life at the beginning of the 21st century. A selection of more than 260 images depicts the immense ethnic, cultural and social diversity of the Jewish people throughout the world. This two-volume, slipcased book includes: Photographs (volume 1; 344 pages): 262 duotone photographs, 2 full colour photographs, 1 map Voices (volume 2; 164 pages): a reproduction of 60 of the photographs along with commentaries by such leading contemporary thinkers as Andr� Aciman, Jacques Derrida, Carlos Fuentes, Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett, Julius Lester, George Steiner and Avivah Gottlieb Zornberg. Fr�d�ric Brenner was born in Paris and has a master�s degree in social anthropology from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. He has had solo exhibitions in major venues in New York, Mexico City, Paris, Lausannes, Arles and Amsterdam. He has won the prestigious Prix de Rome and has published five previous books of photographs, including Jews/America/A Representation .
